Our world is so full of stress and tension sometimes it’s hard to slow down and relax. There are just too many obligations, either real or perceived, that are keeping us too busy. The sad thing is, our children are feeling stress also, and are learning that living with it is normal. Well, it isn’t. Or at least it shouldn’t be. As a parent you need to teach your kids by example how to relax, say no to unnecessary responsibilities, and take life a little slower.
One way to do that is by having a family night once a week. Take the evening off to be together, play games, talk, enjoy read aloud books together, go for walks, have wiener roasts, go to a movie, have music night, whatever activities your family enjoys. Make it important because it is. If it is important to you, it will be important to your kids.
Don’t let the stress bring your family down. Eliminate as much of it as you can and teach your kids how to relax.
I have a question for everyone, why is social networking a staple of life, something that a major portion of the world cannot live without? We as a society have came to rely on social network sites such as Facebook and Twitter to stay connected and communicate our daily life to friends and family. The idea of calling someone on a home phone, or sending a letter has simply disappeared. Even e-mailing for the most part between each other has stepped aside to commenting.
The reason is in my opinion both convenience, and the ability to have a more fulfilling social interaction then a simple phone call or letter. Now I am not saying that social networking should replace real face to face social interaction. I am only saying that social network sites allow us to connect with each other on a seamless and almost natural way that gets more of our ideas and thoughts to others.
